History
Palmetto Dunes was first developed by the Greenwood Development Corporation in the 1960’s.
The company dug Shelter Cove Harbor, added 600,000 sq ft of sand to the beaches and built dunes along the lagoon.
Oceanfront homes were built and integrated seamlessly with the natural landscape. This design has served as a prototype for seaside communities world-wide.
